Back by popular demand, a video showcaseing users interaction with notice during an experiment looking at installation behavior. The study was published in the SOUPS conference in 2005, and was one of the first studies to look at the usability of notice during installation. For context, users were asked to configure a computer for a friend, and make various choices about what programs to install or not install. The rest, as they say, is history.

STOP. THINK. CONNECT. When you cross the street, you look both ways so make sure it’s safe. Staying safe on the Internet is similar. It takes some common sense steps — Stop. Think. Connect.

Good Research is proud to be one of the founding members of this important public-private partnership. The Stop-Think-Connect message gives industry and government a platform and common theme to unite consumer messaging around security.
STOP: Before you use the Internet, take time to understand the risks and learn how to spot potential problems.

THINK: Take a moment to be certain the path ahead is clear. Watch for warning signs and consider how your actions online could impact your safety, or your family’s.

CONNECT: Enjoy the Internet with greater confidence, knowing you’ve taken the right steps to safeguard yourself and your computer.

Protect yourself and help keep the web a safer place for everyone.
